LA MIRADA, Calif. --- After just about six years at the helm of the Biola Men's Golf program Head Coach Hank Woodrome has decided to retire from his coaching duties.
 
Woodrome came to Biola in 2010 and spent nearly six seasons in his post in two different stints. He ran both the men and women's programs from 2010-2013, but when he returned in 2014-15 it was to coach just the men's program.
 
"We have been so fortunate to have Coach Hank Woodrome on our staff at Biola," said Dr. Bethany Miller, director of athletics. "He is a kind man and an excellent teacher of the game and teacher of life. We are sad to see him move on, but understand God is calling him to a new season. The student-athletes and staff will miss his humble spirit, deep faith in God, and the privilege of learning under a golf professional."
 
During his tenure as head coach Woodrome led his team to six NAIA Scholar Team honors, six individual scholar-athlete awards and two individual tournament championships.
 
Woodrome is well known for his courteous, professional demeanor and great ability to care for his student-athletes. He's been a fantastic mentor of men throughout his time here and has left an imprint on the university and the program that will be felt for years to come.
 
"The hardest part of leaving is leaving the kids. I love the kids and I think that Biola's future will continue to go up and flourish," said Woodrome. "I enjoyed my time and think the people here are great. It's hard leaving, but I think this is the right decision for this season of my life."
 
Outside of his collegiate coaching Woodrome spends his time on courses as an instructor and PGA golf pro in his hometown of Yorba Linda. He's been involved in the PGA since 1984 and still plays in senior events through the Southern California PGA.
 
Following his retirement he will be focusing a lot of his time and attention on missional outreach through Links Players, which is an outreach and fellowship organization that focuses on weaving Christian faith through the golf industry.
