Biola student-athletes consistently rank at the top of the PacWest Conference in academic honors, and Biola Athletics ranks in the top two percent of NCAA Division II for academic success rate. The university behind that record is ranked No. 31 nationally for Best Undergraduate Teaching by U.S. News, tied with Harvard, Cornell and MIT, and carries the Carnegie designation as a Research College and University. College Raptor ranks Biola No. 17 among all Division II colleges in the country, and the university keeps a running list of its national rankings and recognitions.

The competition is real

Both
Cross country teams won the PacWest championship in the same season. The women took their fourth straight, a run matched by only two programs in conference history, and went on to the NCAA Division II Championships. The men reclaimed the title they had lost. 2025-26

Women's track and field won the program's first PacWest outdoor championship, 195 points to 160, ending a nine-year run by Azusa Pacific. Eboselulu Omofoma scored 34 of those points by winning the 100 and 400 hurdles, and Bethany Mapes won the 1,500 and the 5,000. 2025-26

Softball went 3-0 to win the NCAA Division II West Regional, then lost a winner-take-all Super Regional game in eleven innings, one win short of the championship finals site. The Eagles finished 42-23 with a program-record sixteen-game winning streak. 2025-26

In the PacWest Bob Hogue Commissioner's Cup, the largest in-season climb in the conference, from eighth after the winter to fourth at the finish. Biola also placed 79th of 251 Division II institutions in the final Learfield Directors' Cup standings. 2025-26

The structures behind those numbers.

A faculty teammate on every team

Twenty Biola professors, deans and chairs were drafted by our seventeen varsity programs for 2026-27. Each one joins a team for the full year as a mentor and a steady presence, which means every roster has a faculty member who knows those athletes as students first.

Coaches see grades in real time

Head coaches have live access to their student-athletes' grades and receive alerts when someone may need additional support. Problems get caught in week four, not at the end of the term when it is too late to fix them.

Study hall and academic advising

Structured study time is built into the week, and a dedicated advisor tracks progress toward the degree rather than just toward eligibility.

Direct liaisons in admissions and the registrar

Student-athletes have named contacts inside both offices whose job is to smooth out the process. Applications, transfer credit, registration and course conflicts around a competition schedule get handled by someone who already understands the situation.

Tutoring and the Writing Center

The university's academic support is open to student-athletes on the same terms as every other student, including the Rhetoric and Writing Center, which is directed by one of our own faculty teammates.

Biola is ranked the most comprehensively Christian university in North America, out of 562 institutions studied. In athletics that shows up in ordinary ways: teams that pray together before competition, chapels and devotions built into the season, and coaches who invest in their players spiritually as well as athletically.
