Know the rules

An overview of the NCAA rules that most often affect prospective student-athletes, current student-athletes, and the boosters and donors who support Biola Athletics.

This is a guide, not the rulebook. The pages above cover some of the more common questions and issues; they are not a comprehensive list of NCAA rules. Many of these rules affect the eligibility of both Biola student-athletes and recruits, and following them protects that eligibility and the integrity of our athletics department. The complete NCAA Division II Manual is the authoritative source.

What the compliance office does

The compliance office directs, observes, and validates compliance with all NCAA and conference requirements, and educates athletics department staff members, coaches, student-athletes, and the Biola University community regarding NCAA regulations.

The athletics compliance office and the institution as a whole are committed to the principle of institutional control, operating the athletics department in a way that is consistent with the rules and regulations of the NCAA and our affiliated conferences.

Report a violation

Biola University is committed to compliance with NCAA and conference rules. The compliance office gives attention to all potential violations regardless of severity or significance. Lack of knowledge of the rules is not an acceptable explanation for a violation, and failure to report further compounds the severity.

Student-athletes, coaches, staff members, or any member of the general public may report a violation confidentially by contacting the compliance office directly. All violation investigations include the senior director of athletics and the Faculty Athletics Representative, with direct reporting to the Office of the President.
