SANTA CLARITA, Calif. --- Biola Men's Golf played better on the final day of competition at the 2016 The Master's College Spring Invite, but the Eagles had no movement up or down as the team finished the 54-hole tournament 10^th of 14 teams.
 
The Eagle combined to shoot 306 in the final round of competition at Robinson Ranch Golf Club, but Biola fell one stroke shy of moving into a tie in ninth place overall with Marymount (CA).
 
Dominic Ariondo led the way in this final round as he shot an even-par 72. That 72 in the new career-low for Ariondo, who was playing in his fourth tournament this season.
 
"Dominic Ariondo had his best tournament of his young career, shooting a par round of 72 to go with rounds of 75 and76 for a total of 223," said Head Coach Hank Woodrome. "Only a freshman, he was very impressive today creating shots with good visualization and a confident but calm mental attitude. Very impressed with his performance."
 
Ariondo shot four strokes better than the next best Eagle on a morning where three of the five Biola golfers carded rounds in the 70s. His three-round total of 223 (+7) allowed him to finish tied for 21^st and was the best finish on the team.
 
Two other freshman, Austin Bishop and Kyle McAbee, finished right behind him in a tie for 46^th with a final total of 231. Bishop carded a 76 and McAbee a 77 during Tuesday's final round.
 
"Austin Bishop made a great comeback, being six over par his first 8 holes, but he rallied by going two-under on his last 10 holes and shooting a 76 for three day total of 231," said Woodrome.
 
The strong final round allowed the young members of Woodrome's team to slide past the senior leader, William Langworthy, who had another tough round shooting an 81. He would finish one stroke behind Bishop and McAbee with a 232 (+16).
 
Biola finished with a three-round team total of 917 to finish one stroke back from ninth and 49 strokes back from the tournament winner, the University of Victoria. The Vikings shot a final round 288 to win the competition by 11 strokes over the host school, The Master's College.
 
Biola has two more spring tournaments left as it travels to Eagle Glen Golf Club for the California Baptist Spring Invite later in March and then competes for a GSAC Championship in late-April.
