SANTA CLARITA, Calif. --- It was a perfect day for some golf at Robinson Ranch Golf Club as the Eagles competed in the first two rounds of the 2016 Spring Invitational hosted by The Master's College.
 
William Langworthy led Biola to a phenomenal first 18 holes with his team-leading 70 that had the team in seventh place after the first round with a team score of 297. Unfortunately, the afternoon round saw the Eagles' scores soar and the team dropped to 10^th overall after a combined score of 314.
 
Langworthy's 70 in the first ties a career-best for the senior as he paced the team through a consistent performance that included four of the team's five shooters scoring in the 70s.
 
"The men played a nice first round in the morning with Will Langworthy leading the way with a two underpar score," said Head Coach Hank Woodrome. "He had an awesome back nine of 33 while shooting his 70. He is a player any coach would love to have. I am so grateful to have been able to coach him. Great attitude, great character, and always willing to help in any way he can."
 
Dominic Ariondo scored most consistently for the Eagles during the first two rounds of competition. The freshman had the third-lowest first round score of 75 and only added one stroke in the afternoon to finish tied with Langworthy in 32^nd with a combined score of 151 (+7).
 
The story of the first day of competition was freshman Austin Bishop. Bishop battle flu-like symptoms all day long to card some solid scores for coach Woodrome. He shot the second-best first round score (74) before dropping off a bit in round two because of a challenging back nine in round two. He did, however, finish his second round with a birdie on the final hole. He sits tied for 47^th at 155 (+11) with one round to play.
 
"Austin deserves a lot of credit for just finishing. He was under the weather all day and actually played better than he scored but just to finish was a credit to his character," said Woodrome.
 
The Eagles are in 10^th of 14 with 18 holes left to play. The team is just four strokes back from ninth place with a chance to move up with a strong final day. The University of Victoria is leading the tournament by three strokes with a two-round tally of 580 (+4).
 
"We hope to finish strong tomorrow. Hopefully a good mindset and smart shots will produce a fine final-round," said Woodrome.
