Jimmy Gallarda Named GSAC Pitcher of the Week

After working a complete game victory over Westmont, Gallarda is rewarded.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- For the second-consecutive week a Biola starter has been recognized as the Golden State Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week. Friday ace Jimmy Gallarda earns player of the week honors for the second time in his career for his complete game win against the Westmont Warriors.

Gallarda recorded a season-high nine strikeouts in the Eagles' 7-3 win over Westmont and increased his innings total on the season to an NAIA-best 93.2. He only allowed one run on four hits through his first eight innings before two solo-homers narrowed the Warriors' six-run deficit. The victory was the first against the Warriors in the regular season since Feb. 1, 2014 and provided the fast start Biola needed to win their seventh-consecutive GSAC series.

Gallarda has earned victories in seven-straight starts against conference opponents and has pitched through seven innings in all 12 of his outings this season.

He and the Eagles (32-15, 17-10 GSAC) begin their last and most pivotal GSAC series this Friday against the Vanguard Lions (30-18, 18-9 GSAC). The Eagles sit just one game back of the Lions in the conference table and will play for the honor of clinching the GSAC regular-season title at home in the midst of senior day festivities.

The first game of the series is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Friday.
