CORONA, Calif. --- Biola Men's Golf finished up its final 18 holes at the 2017 CBU Men's Invitational on Tuesday morning and got a one stroke improvement from the second round of the first day.
 
The Eagles shot a 312 on the final day to finish the tournament at 933 (+69) and finish in sole possession of 15^th place in the 19-team tournament.

"We felt like we played better today but we ended up with the same team score. Those who struggled only had two or three bad holes and on this course that is all it takes. Birdies are hard to come by," said Head Coach Max Allen.
 
It was a beautiful day in Corona as the large, predominantly NCAA Division II field finished off the third round of play to find a winner. Scores ranged between 287 and 319 as teams had up-and-down days all over the map.
 
Biola's 312 was anchored by Austin Bishop, who carded a 70 as his best round of the tournament. It was the best round by any Eagle at this tournament. It was a nice return to form for the sophomore who shot a 76 and 79 on day one after carding a 67 on this course last year. He finished the tournament at 225 to finish tied for 25^th in the field of 100.

"The only difference for Austin today was he made putts. He picked up the team by picking apart the front nine today with four birdies - arguably the toughest part of the course. Individually he shot up the leaderboard from outside the top 50 into the top 30," said Allen.
 
Kyle McAbee was the only other Biola golfer to find a score in the 70s on the final day as he ended his tournament with a 78. His three-round total of 235 was good for 68^th. He hovered around 80 in each round of this tournament, which is off the mark from his season average of 76.
 
Kaden Page finished with an 80 in the final round, which was the third-best Biola score for the day, but he finished as the fourth-best Eagle overall with a three-round total of 243. He tied for 83^rd place on the individual leaderboard with Cameron Bauer.
 
BYU-Hawaii won the team title for the tournament, finishing 68 strokes ahead of BU. Biola was within 20 strokes (relative striking distance) of a finish as high as ninth place, but just couldn't find the strokes it needed to compete near the top. A player from the host school (California Baptist) won the individual title with a score of nine-under.

"Looking forward we have the ability to execute the shots under pressure, we just need to do it consistently for 54 holes. Our finish in this tournament shows we did not do this. We will be working in practice to flip the story line in the GSAC Championship," said Allen.
 
Allen's team is back in action again for the GSAC Championships in late-April. This event will give the Eagles a chance to qualify for the NAIA National Championship tournament in Silvis, Ill.
