LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Outside of two disappointing tiebreaker losses in doubles play it was a perfectly enjoyable night for Biola Men's Tennis as it worked a 7-2 win over the visiting Hastings College Broncos.
 
The Eagles won all six singles matches in straight sets and had a chance at a 9-0 victory with a win at No. 1 doubles and a pair of tiebreaker losses at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
 
The doubles were played first after the match was delayed in its start by about an hour. Hastings was coming to the Biola Tennis Center from LAX after landing there from Hawaii earlier this afternoon. Traffic caused them to not arrive at the courts until around 6:40 p.m., when the match was scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
 
Lucas Lee and Derek James were responsible for the team's only doubles win. They took an 8-4 victory in the top doubles spot to improve to 3-0 together this year.

"I give a lot of credit to Hastings and their doubles teams for fighting hard and staying in it," said Head Coach David Goodman.
 
Biola singles lineup of Lee, Philip Westwood, James, Luke Mountain, Joe Turnquist and David Garcia dominated play in a singles sweep that lasted just about 60 minutes exactly and enabled the team to finish the match nine minutes before the lights turned off at 10:00 p.m.
 
James and Lee were the highlights of the night as they won the only doubles match, but they also were the only ones to continue singles winning streaks. They both have now won each of their last two matches. James' win makes him 8-1 in singles this year.

"The guys were fired up in the singles and we had the type of energy that helped us take all the matches in straight sets," said Goodman. "I think we learned some valuable lessons from this match and were lucky to get the win."
 
Westwood (6-3; 6-1) and Garcia (6-0; 6-2) had the most convincing singles victories of the night.
 
The win pushes Goodman's team to 3-7 on the season, while the visiting Broncos drop to 2-6.
