PHOENIX, Ariz. --- Biola Men's Golf made a big splash on the final day of the Arizona Christian Spring Invitational on Tuesday as Head Coach Max Allen's team turned in a 294 to jump three spots and finish the tournament alone in seventh place.
 
"This was a refreshing tournament for us. It seemed uncertain missing two of our top 5 to injury, but some nice weather and noticeable improvement from players has us excited for our next Arizona trip," said Allen. "[Arizona] is where our best performances are so why not keep that going? As a team we are only several putts away from being in contention, and anybody (or any team) can be the best putter(s). So we are going to prepare and make sure it's us in Prescott."
 
During Tuesday's round it was Kyle McAbee who did it the best. The sophomore tied his career-best during the third round with a two-under 70. He could have gone even lower than that, but a pair of bogeys in the final three holes made the score tick up just a bit.
 
 The 70 was his best round of the tournament by six strokes. He had previously carded a 77 and 76 and the big drop on the second day of competition is a huge reason Biola was able to jump a few spots up the leaderboard. He finished with a three-round total of 223 (+7) to tie for 23^rd overall.
 
The Eagles had all five scorers in the 70s on Tuesday, which was very impressive, but is exactly what coach Allen expects out of his team in every round as long as everyone plays their best.
 
Tristan Ginkel had the team's second-lowest score of the day as he turned in a one-over 73 to finish the tournament tied with McAbee at +7. The 70 was another new career-best for Ginkel. The freshman began the tournament with a collegiate low round of 78 and then shot all three rounds of this week under that mark by at least two strokes.
 
"Tristan Ginkel made it look easy today. Every time I watched him he was in the fairway or on the green," said Allen. "The only thing he missed were five birdie putts. He still managed to sink a couple and had some nice up and downs to shoot 73. He handled the finishing stretch of holes remarkably well. Many players entered the last five holes under par and finished over."
 
Austin Bishop continued his great play during the final day of play as he followed up his 71 and 76 with a round three 74. His 221 (+5) was the Eagles' best finish and he ended up in a tie for 17^th overall in the field of almost 100 golfers.
 
"Austin composed himself after a tough start," said Allen. "He was four-over at one point, but he made some late birdies and clutch par saves to shoot 74. Austin is the last player I worry about. He is diligent and beyond his years managing his game and the course."
 
The Eagles' team scores were rounded out by Kaden Page (78) and Cameron Bauer (77). The 77 was Bauer's best number of the tournament by far as he put everything together to take a big step forward on the final day. He dropped five strokes from his best round on day one and tied his season-low.
 
Biola's team total for the three-round tournament was 897 (+33). It left the Eagles seven strokes ahead of the eighth-place team (Corban) and 31 strokes back from the tournament champion Arizona Christian.
 
The Eagles will return to the desert for their next tournament, which is the Embry-Riddle Spring Invite at Antelope Hills Golf Club in Prescott, Ariz. That tournament is scheduled for March 13-14.
