LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola announces the hiring of David Goodman as Head Coach for Men's and Women's Tennis headed into the 2016-2017 academic year. 

Goodman returns to Biola after serving as head coach for the women's tennis program at Azusa Pacific from 2014 to 2016. He was previously the head men's coach at Biola from 2012 to 2014.

"Biola is an awesome school that has an environment unlike any other," said Goodman. "I am very excited to be back with the tennis program and expand upon its recent success." 

Both the men's and women's tennis teams advanced to the GSAC tournament semi-finals in 2016, and expect the return of three All-GSAC players combined between the two programs for the 2017 campaign. The men's team also collected a record number of wins with 11 in 2016.

Goodman had his fair share of success on the court as a player himself at APU, earning All-American honors four times and GSAC player of the year in 2007. Azusa Pacific also won the NAIA national championship for men's tennis in 2005 with Goodman on the team.

"Coach Goodman is a very strong addition to our athletic staff with a wealth of expertise gained from coaching in the PacWest and NCAA Division II," said Director of Athletics Dr. Bethany Miller. "We're confident he's going to do great things for both the men's and women's tennis programs and are excited to welcome him back to Biola." 

Goodman begins his duties immediately.
