LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola University is pleased to announce Max Allen as the fourth men's golf coach in program history. Allen steps into the head coach position after his former coach Hank Woodrome stepped into retirement.
 
Allen played for Biola in 2013-14 and has served as the program's lead assistant for the last two seasons. This is his first head coaching job.
 
"I am excited for the program," said Allen. "The guys have strong character and immense talent. They have potential to compete with anybody. I've enjoyed my time with them the last two years and I am excited to see it through and watch them have the success that they are ready for. "
 
In addition to coaching Allen is an instructor and executive with local business GolfCode360. GolfCode360 uses biomechanical research to coach its clients to better golf technique in all areas of the game.
 
"Max has demonstrated as an assistant coach for us that he has a lot of leadership and knowledge on the course," said Associate Athletic Director Eddie Shepard. "I think his players really respect him as a coach. We are excited to see his leadership as he takes his program into this new phase in Biola Athletics."
 
Allen takes the reigns of the program immediately and will lead the Eagles into the 2016-17 season. He'll have just about two months to get acclimated with his team of over 10 student-athletes before their first competition of the new year.
 
He is setup well for success thanks to the diligent work of Woodrome to put together a strong team and culture to pass off.

"I think Hank was extremely well balanced as a coach," said Allen. "As much as he worked with the guys to improve their golf game, he also focused on keeping their academics as a strength during their time at Biola. He did a great job to create a positive, Christ-centered team culture."
