PEORIA, Ariz. --- Rounding out Head Coach Alan Nakamura's 2016-17 recruiting class is Kayla Macedo out of Liberty High School in Peoria, Arizona. Macedo is a four-year varsity shooting guard/small forward and commits to spend the next four years with Biola Women's Basketball.
 
"We are excited to add a person of Kayla's Christian character," said Nakamura. "Her commitment to academics and love for the game, combined with her team-first, coachable spirit makes her a wonderful teammate and will enhance our team chemistry."
 
Macedo was an honors student all four years at Liberty while playing on the varsity girl's basketball team. She earned all-league second team honors for the Lions and helped lead the team to a winning record all four seasons, including three seasons with 22 or more victories.
 
She played her first season at Liberty under the direction of Arizona Christian's head coach Odell Berry. She averaged 9.2 points-per-game and 2.7 rebounds-per-game during her senior year as the Lions went 13-12.
 
"On the court Kayla is a tall, long, athletic player who can score from long, mid and close range," said Nakamura. "She comes from a basketball family and is going to blossom as she works daily with our dedicated players."
 
Macedo begins classes at Biola this fall. She plans to study nursing with the career goal of becoming a nurse.
 
"I chose to attend Biola because I believe going to a strong Christian school will allow me to be around strong-minded people and allow me the opportunity to develop and grow," said Macedo. "The coaches and players were so welcoming making it an easy decision to attend the University. I could not be more honored to play with this group of girls while continuing my journey."
