Eagles Add Standout Point Guard

Brimley adds depth to an already strong group of guards in the Biola Basketball program.

PHOENIX, Ariz. --- Tatum Brimley built quite the reputation for herself during her four varsity basketball season at Desert Vista HS in Phoenix. She led her team to a state championship while maintaining great academic standing and endearing herself to her teammates, coaching staff and community.

Brimley will bring her talents as a point guard to La Mirada for her collegiate career. She's committed to join Head Coach Alan Nakamura's Biola Women's Basketball program beginning this fall.

"We are very excited to welcome Tatum to the Biola Basketball family," said Nakamura. "She possesses all of the qualities we are looking for in our players. She is a joyful, quality person in every way, she is a serious student, good teammate and is humble, coachable and competitive. Her coach Cheyan Wilson said we got a steal, and we whole-heartedly agree."

Brimley was one of the most impressive high school players in Arizona over the past few years. She earned a selection on the 2016 senior all-start team and earned all-section first team and all-division second team honors.

She has a balanced game and was twice named the team's defensive player of the year. Her talents helped the Thunder win the high school state championship in 2013-14 and she was named to the all-tournament team at USJN Nationals in Washington, D.C.

On top of all of her athletic talents Brimley is also a wonderful, dedicated student. She earned academic excellence awards in each of her high school seasons and looks forward to beginning her studies as a human biology major at Biola.

"The team and coaches (at Biola) made me feel very welcome," said Brimley. "They made it feel like it was the right place for me to be, and I believe that I will be able to thrive spiritually, academically and athletically in the environment Biola provides."

Catch Brimley and her teammates back in action inside of Chase Gym later this fall.
