LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Today's 6-3 loss to No. 20 Lewis-Clark State College was highlighted by two phenomenal singles performances at the top of the pecking order.
 
Philip Westwood and Lucas Lee, at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively, helped the Eagles climb out of a 0-4 hole by winning their matches in singles and setting Biola up with a chance to win the match with a doubles sweep.
 
Unfortunately, that would not be the case as only Westwood and Joe Turnquist would be able to work an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles and the visiting Warriors did in the Eagles.

"Philip and Lucas were huge for us today," said Head Coach Brent Worthington. "Being down 0-4 in the team score they refused to quit and played great tennis to keep us alive heading into doubles."
 
Westwood and Lee had two marathon matches in singles play. Westwood finished off his opponent in straight sets (6-4; 6-4), but it was no easy feat. The match was highlighted by several long rallies that had the match setup to easily be the last one off the court if it did indeed need a third set.
 
However, it was actually Lee's match at No. 2 that was the last to exit the courts during singles play. The sophomore got off to a slow start and dropped the first set 6-4 before roaring back to win in convincing fashion at 6-4, 6-2 in the second and third sets.

"In doubles we fought hard to pull out a comeback, but we just didn't have enough," said Worthington. "We played good tennis but just werent consistent enough in all spots. We still have two important matches and will be ready to recover well."
 
This match was a Golden State Athletic Conference countable one as LCSC is an affiliate member of the conference for tennis. The loss drops Biola to 10-10 (3-4 GSAC), while the win helps the nationally ranked Warriors improve to 9-6 (4-1 GSAC).
 
Biola has four days off before it hosts Westmont at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 5.
