LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The good times kept on rolling for Biola Men's Tennis on Tuesday as Head Coach Brent Worthington's team won its fifth consecutive match. The Eagles dismissed the University of the Southwest with a 7-2 score.

"We have a five match win streak and are feeling confident with where we are at right now," said Worthington. 'Everyone played sharp and executed the way we have been talking about and practicing."

The match began with six very intense singles competitions, including a matchup at No. 4 singles that had every single person at the Biola Tennis Center watching. Joe Turnquist came back from down a set to win one over Amadeus Lopez.

"Joe was big for us pulling out the third set to give us a comfortable 4-2 lead heading into doubles," said Worthington.

David Garcia, Michael Vartuli and Lucas Lee also earned strong victories in singles play. Each won earned straight-set victories in carrying the Eagles to a big lead in the match.

The Eagles won all but No. 2 and No. 3 singles in order to gain the lead that carried them confidently into the doubles matchups.

Philip Westwood and Turnquist combined to dismiss Gus Cooper and Stanislav Smirnov in quick fashion to be the first doubles match off the court with an 8-3 victory.

The 8-3 score was replicated by David Garcia and Michael Vartuli at No. 3 doubles. This win was the second of the three that Biola had as it sweeped the second half of this match.

Biola improved to 9-7 with the victory and will look to continue the momentum on Wednesday during a 2:30 p.m. home match against Hawai'i-Hilo. With today's loss the Mustangs dropped to 5-5.
