LA MIRADA, Calif. --- After being gifted a victory earlier in the day with advance notice of San Diego Christian forfeiting Saturday's match, Biola Men's Tennis went out and pulled its season record back to .500 with a 7-2 home win over Washington College (Md.).
 
"The guys played well today," said Head Coach Brent Worthington. "We played a clean and competitive match from start to finish top to bottom. We are picking up some momentum and starting to play well."
 
Biola went out and grabbed a tight 2-1 advantage following the three doubles matches as Lucas Lee and Luke Mountain grinded to a 9-8 (7-3) victory at the No. 1 slot.
 
Philip Westwood and Joe Turnquist also combined for a win at doubles as they took down Washington's Jeremy Novick and Matt Katz in a one-sided 8-1 bout at No. 2 doubles.
 
Three of the six singles matches were very competitive as the Eagles worked their way to a 5-1 advantage in singles en route to the 7-2 overall win. Lee, Turnquist and Andrew Greenfield's matches all had at least one set needing a tie break.
 
Those tiebreaks turned out favorable for Lee and Greenfield, but Turnquist's went in favor of his Shoreman opponent. Turnquist's match at No. 4 singles was the Eagles' only singles loss of the afternoon.
 
Westwood and Mountain had the most impressive performances of the day in singles play. The duo each got 6-1; 6-1 victories in matches at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.
 
Biola improves to 7-7 with the win, while Washington College falls to 1-5. The Eagles are back at the Biola Tennis Center on Friday for a 3:30 p.m. match against Colorado Christian.
