Homeschooled Star Commits To Men's Golf

Kyle McAbee experienced a lot of success in junior tournaments and now looks to contribute at BU.

VACAVILLE, Calif. --- Kyle McAbee spent his last four years playing various junior tours across Northern California as he was homeschooled. He graduated in 2015 and is set to bring his golfing talents to Biola and represent a school in competition for the first time.

"Kyle is a really good player, as well as a top-notch student," said Head Coach Hank Woodrome. "He is really impressive off the tee with a nice overall game. He is very inquisitive and should be a very good team player."

In lieu of playing high school golf McAbee competed in local junior tournaments all around his area. He primarily plays in the First Tee of Greater Sacramento, Junior Tour of Northern California, the Northern California Golf Association and the Junior Golf Association of Northern California.

His lowest tournament score is a 68 (-3), and he's also shot one-under and two-under par on numerous occasions.

McAbee comes to Biola hoping to study business and eventually get a chance to qualify for the NCAA Division II golf championship. He brings with him a 4.0 cumulative grade point average through his high school years.

"Golf is my passion. I was trying to find the right college to play for," said McAbee. "I was looking for a small Christian college to grow in my faith and at the same time play golf."

He comes in as a freshman in the fall of 2015.
