SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- Biola came up just short of getting a three-peat at this weekend's Golden State Athletic Conference Championships, but it was a very successful meet, with the women placing second and the men finishing fifth.
 
Westmont, the host school, won both the men and women's team championships. Biola's student-athletes added two individual conference championships and 13 All-GSAC finishes during day two of the competition.
 
"This weekend's conference championships were a culmination of months and months of hard work for these athletes, and it is nice to see them rewarded for their efforts. They all were in it for their teammates, and they were fine representatives of Biola University," said Assistant Coach Collin Christensen.
 
Anika Gasner locked up her second career individual GSAC Championship with her run in the 1,500m. Her 4:34.94 bested the second place runner out of Arizona Christian by more than three seconds. She also earned an All-GSAC finish in the 800m, placing third with a 2:15.42.
 
Elyse Harabedian claimed her first conference championship by winning the heptathlon. She placed second in the 200m and 800m run and won the 100m hurdles, high jump and long jump to power her way to 3,981 points and claim a two-point victory over a competitor from William Jessup.
 
Biola got second place finishes from Kate Smiley, Morgan Dworak, Teddi Wright, Megan Crumley and Kevin Horchler. It added third place marks in the women's 4x100m relay and Smiley, Megan Ransom, Andrew Daedler and James McCahon to round out the Eagles' All-GSAC nods.
 
Biola now waits for late-May, when it will compete at the 2015 Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
