Eagles Finish Strong in Emporia

Joshua Widdows highlighted Biola’s final day with a school record and second-place finish in the 400m hurdles

EMPORIA, Kan. --- The Biola track and field teams entered Welch Stadium for the final day of competition at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. 

Four Eagles competed in four different finals on Saturday. Colby Shamblin kicked things off in the men's javelin final. Shamblin landed an 18th place finish after a throw of 60.23 meters. Shamblin closes out an incredible freshman campaign, breaking a school record and placing second place at the PacWest Championships.

Eboselulu Omofoma had two finals on her itinerary. She competed in both the women's 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles. In the 100m hurdles, Omofoma ran a 13.69, finishing in 8th place. In the 400m hurdles, she finished in 8th place with a time of 1:04.91.

After winning his qualifying heat, Joshua Widdows takes on the top-8 in the men's 400m hurdles. In his first nationals appearance, Widdows finished in 2nd place after a blazing fast time of 50.31, a school record. Widdows closes out his season with a podium finish and new personal best.

The senior Bethany Mapes closed out her career in her signature event, the 5000m. Mapes finished in 17th place with a time of 16:54.81. She set both the 3000 and 5000 meter school records this year. 

The Eagles will return from Kansas with hardware and All-American honors.
