REDDING, Calif. --- Biola men and women's golf began the first two rounds of competition at the 2015 GSAC/CalPac Qualifier on Monday, vying for a chance to advance to the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
 
The Eagles' teams played a tough, lengthy course with slippery elevated greens, but held their own through the first 36 holes, with the women's team in second place with a 747 and the men sitting in fourth place with a 640.
 
The women's side sits 17 strokes behind Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) who is in first place after the first two rounds thanks to a strong individual performance by Lauren Kruszewski, who leads the field by a wide margin.
 
The Eagles have two players near the top of the field as Sarah Paravia carded a 177 to sit in third place and Whitney Jammerman posted a 181 to sit tied for fifth overall.
 
It is Paravia's first postseason tournament and Jammerman's last as the freshman and senior lead the way for Biola. Jasmine Rodriguez sits not too far back, carding a two-round total of 184 and the Eagles' other counting score came from Lauren VanHorn (205).
 
No individual results were released for the men's competition, but Biola is just 10 strokes behind the leader of the pack, Embry-Riddle, headed into Tuesday's final round of play.
 
Clarence DeVera of Hope International is the leader of the men's competition, shooting a two-round total of 147. One team and one individual from each field advances to the NAIA Tournament.
 
One round of 18 holes follows Monday's 10 hours on the golf course, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday.
