SHORELINE, Wash. --- Emily Ransom commits to follow her sister Megan Ransom's footsteps and join the track and field program at Biola next fall.
 
The younger Ransom is coming off three varsity track seasons and two varsity cross country seasons at Shorewood High School where she made a big impression on Assistant Coach Collin Christensen and the rest of Biola's coaching staff.
 
"We're excited to add Emily to the team," said Christensen. "Her ambition and competitive drive will play a vital role in our transition as an athletic program and I look forward to seeing Emily blossom in the Christ-centered fellowship of her new teammates."
 
Ransom earned All-WESCO First team honors in the 1,600m and second team honors in the 3,200m. She also was all-league second team in cross country during her junior season and third team as a senior.
 
She also led the Thunderbirds to state as a junior and led her track team to a district championship in 2011. She's served as captain for both her track and cross country teams and earned "Most Inspirational," "Most Improved," and team MVP honors.
 
She's had two siblings come through Biola, including her sister, Megan, and brother, Trevor.
 
"Emily is a hard-working, driven athlete who will bring her energy and a big smile to the team… with a hint of sass," said Megan Ransom. "I am so excited to have her join me here at this wonderful school."
 
Ransom plans to major in exercise science with her eyes on a career in missions and also as a Physical Therapy assistant. She will begin classes in fall of 2015.
 
"I chose Biola because of the amazing community and atmosphere. Everyone was so welcoming and exuded a positive vibe," said Ransom. "It was awesome to see everybody's desire for the Lord. It was evident anywhere from on the team, to Singspo, and to the general attitude of the students."
