SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- Biola took the long road to San Diego to compete at the 2015 Point Loma Invitational on Saturday and had another successful outing with two new personal-records and one national qualifier.
 
Anika Gasner accounted for both of those items, setting her new personal record in the 800m (2:13.13) and hitting a national 'A' qualifier. She placed first in a field of 53 that included NCAA, NAIA and junior college runners.
 
The other personal-best came from Dylan Fredenburg, who posted a 45.60m in the javelin toss. That mark was good enough for a seventh of 17 finish.
 
"It was a great experience getting our athletes into a larger and more competitive environment," said Assistant Coach Collin Christensen. "It is the time of the season where fatigue is accumulating and our athletes are racing or throwing or jumping without feeling at a 100 percent. The fact that there were some excellent performances anyways speaks to the mental fortitude of both teams"
 
Gasner was not the only student-athlete to earn a first-place finish on Saturday. Kevin Horchler led a field of 21 in the 5,000m with a 14:59.64.
 
Also, the Eagles' women's 4x100m relay posted a :48.32 to pace the field. Emily Heisinger, Taylor Holcomb, Morgan Dworak and Kate Smiley competed to edge the 'A' team from Cerritos.
 
Holton Witman, Brandon Mancini, Megan Ransom, Megan Crumley, Elyse Harabedian, Kalee Grimm, Madison Powers and Nicole Falkenstein each also added top-10 finishes.
 
Biola's women's side placed sixth of 13 teams with 175.33 points and the men's contingent finished 11^th of 12 with 60 points.
 
The team is back in action April 11 at the CSU San Marcos Mangrum Invitational. It is the final event before the Golden State Athletic Conference championships.
