REDLANDS, Calif. --- Biola competed in a rare Friday evening meet this week, traveling east to compete at the 2015 Redlands Invitational with a fairly full squad.
 
Biola's athletes got three new personal-bests, two new school records and a qualifying relay for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on a busy day at the track.
 
"Today was a rich, full day," said Assistant Coach Collin Christensen. "Many athletes ventured outside of their comfort zone and competed in more events, or different events, than they were used to."
 
One of the new school records came on a great individual performance by Megan Crumley, who posted a 37.61m toss in the hammer throw to finish fifth overall and break the Eagles' previous mark of 37.36m. The record was last set April 30, 1999.
 
The other school record to fall came courtesy of Emily Heisinger, Taylor Holcomb, Morgan Dworak and Kate Smiley's effort in the 4x100m relay. The quartet finished second with a :48.25 to edge the old school record by sixty-two hundreths of a second. This was Biola's only national qualifier at the meet.
 
The Eagles got 13 other top-3 finishes on the evening, including two first-place marks on the men's side. James McCahon posted a :58.20 to outrun three other men in the 400m hurdles. Andrew Daedler beat out 30 guys in the 1,500m with his 3:59.08, edging out Mark Huizar of Cal Poly Pomona by just over a second.
 
Ilima Kung finished just outside of the top-3 in the 3,000m steeplechase, placing right behind teammate Stephanie Croy, but she set a new personal-best with a 12:20.14.
 
Alisa Murray had the other personal-best on the evening for Biola, finishing sixth in the 1,500m with her 4:52.12 run.
 
The Eagles get back at it on March 28 at the Point Loma Collegiate Invite. It is the second-to-last non-postseason meet of the season.
