LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola clinched its first 9-0 win since April 12, 2011 on Thursday, taking each matchup from the Colorado Christian Cougars.

It was a dominant team effort as no match was ever in doubt in a quick sweep at the Biola Tennis Center.

"Everyone came out and played well from start to finish," said Head Coach
Brent Worthington. "It was a good team win for us today."

The win gets Biola back to one game away from a .500 record at 6-7 and makes it three wins in the last four outings for Worthington's squad. The Eagles are currently receiving votes and just outside the NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll rankings.

Biola earned decisive victories at all six singles spots and three doubles spots, winning in straight sets and getting some good tennis out of all seven players who made an appearance in Worthington's lineup.

Andrew Greenfield and
Michael Vartuli got wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Greenfield is 2-0 in his only two appearances this season, and Vartuli is now 1-0 after getting a 6-0; 6-3 victory in his first match.

Vartuli paired with
Joe Turnquist to get an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles for his first doubles win of the season in three tries. It was Turnquist's fifth.

Philip Westwood got a dominant 6-0; 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles, giving him five straight singles wins and making him the only Eagle with a winning record over his last 10 outings (6-4).

Biola's 9-0 victory launched three straight days of tennis, as it head to Phoenix for a matchup at Arizona Christian (3-6, 1-5 GSAC) on Friday and then hosts Middlebury College (2-0) on Saturday afternoon.
