ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif. --- Omar Ledezma is the cousin of former Biola great
Danny Ledesma, and he will begin his journey to become a Biola great all his own in fall of 2015.
The senior distance runner from Canyon High School committed to join the Biola cross country and track & field teams over the past week.
Â
"We are ecstatic to add Omar to the team," said Assistant Coach
Collin Christensen. "His exuberance for running is contagious and fun to be around. He has loads of potential and we are looking forward to him breaking out as a runner and reaping the benefits of his hard work."
Â
During his time as a Comanche Ledezma earned a league championship in the 800m and spent two seasons on varsity track & field and cross country. He was named a scholar-athlete for his academic achievements.
Â
He also led Canyon HS to just its second-ever appearance at state and a No. 17 national ranking. He's currently being coached by his cousin Danny.
Â
"I chose Biola because of the community I was around when I visited," said Ledezma. "Everyone was very friendly and they really made me feel like I was at home. The team made me feel like I would be a part of something special and I instantly felt drawn to that."
Â
Ledezma begins his Biola journey in the fall and plans to major in computer science. He will be joined by current Canyon HS teammate, Ryan Thompson, and his cousin, Melissa Ledesma.
