LONETREE, Colo. --- The first student-athlete announced to commit to Biola University for the 2016-17 season is a women's basketball player, Ezekia Johnson.
 
Johnson is currently a forward at Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colorado, where she's spent all four years of her high school career on the varsity team and has two all-conference honors to her name to this point.
 
"We are so excited to add Ezekia to our Biola basketball family," said Head Coach Alan Nakamura. "We look for prospects who will thrive in, and enhance, our team chemistry. We believe this is true with Ezekia. She has a personal devotion to the Lord, comes from a strong family and ahs done good work at a top school."
 
Johnson was named the Raiders' most improved player during her junior season in 2014-15 and is just entering her senior season with high hopes.
 
She's thrived under the system the Raiders' coach, Carl Mattei, has put in place for Regis Jesuit. According to Nakamura she is a team-first player who is "willing to devote herself to continue to grow as a Christian, person, student and an athlete."
 
Johnson will enter Biola in the fall of 2016 and intends to major in kinesiology with hopes of a career in physical therapy.
 
"I chose Biola because it is in California and is a small Christian school," said Johnson. "I want to grow in my faith."
