LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The annual Biola Baseball Red vs. Gray series begins Thursday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. on Eagles Diamond as Alec de Watteville's red team battles Jonathan Meyer's gray team.
Â
The Eagles' annual intrasquad series will feature seven games over the course of the next week and a half. Each game will be streamed live in some fashion at portal.stretchinternet.com/biola/.
Â
The two sides will play all seven games no matter the result of the games, making it not a best-of-7, but simply a seven-game series.
Â
The first six games will all be just seven innings, with the final game being played to a full nine innings.
Â
The teams were selected this past Saturday as de Watteville and Meyer traded picks at the annual draft. All of the members of the Eagles' 2016 squad dressed their best and hoped to get picked early as the squads were decided.
Â
Micah Beyer was the first overall selection and went to the red team. He will likely be de Watteville's game one starter on Thursday. Alternatively,
Eric Diomartich was the gray team's first pick (second overall) and should get the ball for Meyer's team on Thursday afternoon.
Â
Sam Thorne was the first strictly position player picked with the fourth overall pick. He was the first catcher selected by de Watteville.
Jeremy Barth was the first strictly position player to come off the board for the gray team as Meyer added
Jimmy Gallarda with the third overall pick before pegging Barth at sixth overall.
Â
The gray team won the 2014 series by winning the fifth game 5-4 to take a 3-2 advantage in the series.
Aaron Chavez scored the series-clinching run last season and is on the gray team yet again in 2015.
