LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Women's Basketball was selected to finish sixth in the nine-team Golden State Athletic Conference in the preseason coaches' poll.
 
It's the team's first year under Head Coach Alan Nakamura and he leads a young, talented roster into the season looking to improve upon last season's 16-15 overall mark and 8-8 conference mark.
 
The Eagles finished fifth in the conference last season just behind the eventual GSAC Tournament champions, The Master's College. It was Biola's second-straight fifth-place conference finish.
 
Nakamura comes into this season with young roster that features four returning players, five freshmen and another first-year player that was added earlier in the semester.

The team will be taller than it's been in previous years as four of the five freshmen are 5-foot-11-inches or taller.
 
The Eagles will be without NAIA All-American Annie Park who will sit this year out as a redshirt. Joining Park as a redshirt is Khadidja Diakite, who started 23 games last season and was the Eagles' fourth-leading scorer.
 
Biola received 34 total points in the preseason coaches' poll to slot in just behind Menlo and right in front of San Diego Christian. Vanguard was picked to win the conference with 76 total points and five first-place votes. Three teams received first place votes as The Master's and Westmont joined VUSC.
 
The women's basketball season begins a week from Wednesday when Biola hosts Bethesda at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 28. The GSAC slate gets started Dec. 5 with a road match at San Diego Christian.
