Biola Men's Golf Adds Austin Bishop of Glendora High School to its 2015-16 roster.

GLENDORA, Calif. --- Austin Bishop was a dual-sport athlete at Glendora High School, playing four years of varsity golf and three years of varsity soccer. He's dropping the cleats while holding on to the clubs, committing to Biola Men's Golf.

"What really attracted me to him was his character and maturity," said Biola Head Coach Hank Woodrome. "He puts his studies before almost anything else. He's got tremendous athletic upside and will be a very good leader, leading by example."

He's still in play during his senior season, but Bishop already has quite the collection of accolades from his golf career at Glendora. He's two-time all league first team and once all-league honorable mention. He also earned All-San Gabriel Valley honorable mention as a junior.

His best tournament finish came in the Toyota Tour Cup Series, finishing in a tie for third at The Classic Club, a course Biola regularly competes at. He's seen his scoring average drop each year he's played high school golf, beginning at a 42 and finishing at a 38 by the end of his junior season.

"I like the tight-knit community at Biola, and that it is so focused on God," said Bishop.

Bishop is used to winning and knows how to get it done in a team setting. He's led the Tartans to three consecutive Baseline League Championships.

He's a very good golfer, but an even better student. In high school he was an AP Scholar, member of the National Honor Society and California Scholastic Federation and he earned an academic letter. His cumulative grade point average puts him in the top four percent of his class of nearly 600 students.

Bishop enters Biola in the fall of 2015 and will major in environmental science.
