PHOENIX, Ariz. --- Biola put forth a nearly identical effort on day two of the 2014 Firestorm Invitational to that which it posted in the first round on Sunday. The Eagles added a second round 312 to their first round 311 to finish the tournament in sixth-place at 623 (+55).
 
Biola posted the highest team scores of any university on both days of the tournament to finish sixth out of the six university teams.
 
William Langworthy had the best day at Stonecreek Golf Club in the final round, adding a 73 (+2) to his day one score of 74 (+3). He rounded out the first tournament of his junior season with a seventh-place individual finish. His five-over 147 is thirteen strokes better than his lowest tournament score relative to par from 2013-14.
 
Right behind Langworthy was freshman Samuel Shih, who had another solid round in the heat of day two. He followed his first round 73 (+2) with a 78 (+7) to come in a nine-over in his first career collegiate tournament.
 
Biola did not have any players finish a tournament within 10 strokes of par in 2013-14, but in the season-opener of 2014-15 they already have two such performances.
 
Lucas Kinan and Kevin VandeKamp rounded out Biola's official counting scores with 25^th- and 29^th-place finishes, respectively. Kinan posted a second round 79 (+8) to end the tournament with a 161 (+19), and VandeKamp's day two 82 (+11) helped him end with a 164 (+22).
 
Ben Crumley made a splash as the fourth Eagle to post a score sub-80 in the second round. His 78 was the seventh round under 80 in the tournament for Biola. He was competing as an individual, so his score could not help Biola move up the leaderboard. He ended as the second-lowest scoring individual with a 158 (+16), a score that was aided by a chip-in eagle on the par-4 17th on Monday. Cameron Bauer finishest as the lowest-scoring individual competitor. He added an 82 (+11) to his day one 74 (+3) to finish with a 156 (+14). Crumley and Bauer placed 23rd and 20th, respectively.
 
Embry-Riddle (AZ) won the team title and also housed the individual tournament winner, Matt Zampello. The Eagles won the tournament with a two-round total of 579 (+11), 44 strokes in front of the still-developing Biola squad. Zampello shot an even-par 71 on the first day and followed that with a 69 (-2) to win the tournament with a 140 (-2).
 
Head Coach Hank Woodrome got to see eight men on the course over two days in very difficult conditions, so he should now have a better idea of the type of team he is working with and can use this information to game plan for Biola's next tournament roster.
 
The team is back in action Sept. 22-23 at the Cal State Intercollegiate hosted by the University of La Verne.
