FULLERTON, Calif. --- Samuel Shih is a two-time team captain and recently a team MVP, and he has committed to bring his talents from Valley Christian High School to Biola.
 
Shih captained the boy's golf team for the Crusaders in each of his last two seasons, and he led the squad to a league championship in 2013. That was his second career league championship, as his 2011 squad became the first undefeated league champions in 12 years.
 
In addition to serving two seasons as captain, Shih was named team MVP in 2014 and won the coaches' award in 2013. He averages rounds of 76, with one even par round against Whitney High School and another personal-best of two-over at the first round of the CIF tournament.
 
"Samuel will be a big bonus for us," said Men's Golf Coach Hank Woodrome. "To advance as far as he did at the CIF tournament this year is a plus. He will contribute right away on this team. I am excited the team is rebuilding and will be more competitive this season, and Samuel will be a big part of that."
 
Shih earned individual third-place finishes at the league championship tournament in his junior and senior seasons, and he also tied for seventh-place after the first round at CIF.
 
He intends to major in accounting when he enters the university this fall.
 
"Biola has a great campus and environment," Shih said. "The professors really want the students to do well and succeed in their studies. Biola also offers a Christian perspective to my major that other colleges do not cover. Biola is everything I ever wanted and what God wanted."
