LA MIRADA, Calif. --- With its 7-2 win over University of the Southwest (N.M) Biola improves to 4-5 on the season and equals its third-highest win total since 2007.
 
The Eagles won all three doubles contests for the first time in two years, improving on an area of weakness in their team this season. Entering today's play the Eagles had a combined 5-19 record in doubles matches.
 
"We have been working hard at improving our doubles, so it was nice to see the benefits of our work," said Head Coach David Goodman.
 
After its 8-5, 8-4 and 8-1 victories in doubles, Biola continued the strong play throughout singles matchups to help seal the victory over the Mustangs.
 
Lucas Lee again set the tone with a huge win in the No. 1 spot. He took out Max Sladkovsky with a straight-set (6-0, 6-4) dominant performance.
 
Lee improves to 3-6 on the year, all at No. 1 singles, and has won two of his last three matches.
 
Brandon Chang was the only other Eagle to sweep a set, taking every point in set two of his straight-set win over Alex Sandoval at No. 5 singles.
 
The Mustangs two points came in hard-fought matches at No. 2 and No. 4. Those two contests were the only matches of the day to go past a second set.
 
Luke Mountain's 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 3 singles helps him become the first Biola player to get back over the .500 mark in individual play this season. He improved his record to 4-3, all spread across the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 spots. He has also won two of his last three matchups.
 
The Eagles have a chance to get back to .500 when they face Austin College (2-5) tomorrow morning at the Biola Tennis Center.
