Record-Breaking Round One

MENIFEE, Calif. --- It was feast or famine for Biola on day one at the California Baptist Men's Invitational. Two Eagles shot phenomenal season-best rounds in round one while two others floundered, and the tables turned as all four golfers posted solid scores in round two.

William Langworthy and Lucas Kinan shot rounds that were right up with the leaders in the first round as they drained a 73 and 75, respectively. They each lowered their previous season-best scores by a few strokes.

John Hanzen and Kevin Vandekamp both struggled fairly heavily through difficult first rounds, but they showed some great resilience in the afternoon round by dropping their scores by a combined 19 strokes to shoot right up with Kinan and Langworthy.

The Eagles' combined efforts put the team in 18th place following the first two rounds in a field that is stacked with top talent from across the NAIA and NCAA.

Western New Mexico sits at the top of the pack with a three-under 573, just one stroke ahead of second-place Simon Fraser. It will be a fight to the finish with the top five teams all within eight strokes of one another. The Eagles sit 72 strokes behind the leaders headed into the final round.

It will be an early morning at the par-72 Menifee Lakes Country Club as the Eagles have a chance to finish their season with some strong rounds.
