Box Score LA MIRADA , Calif. --- After a sloppy start, Biola locks down and lights up Northwest (WA) en route to a 66-48 finish. The win is the Eagles' second in as many days and moves Biola Women's Basketball to 3-1 on the season, a stark contrast to where it was four games into last season.
 
For the second day in a row, the Eagles dominated the paint on defense, allowing just 16 points in the paint. Biola's forwards have been instrumental to the early season success. Elizabeth Munger, Chelsea Hill, Christiana Layne and Taylor Casey wreaked havoc defensively against a Northwest team that struggled to finish against the seemingly ever-present forwards. Biola's bigs raked in seven blocks in the 40 minutes of play. This was fatal to a Northwest offense that could not generate clean looks for their offense.
 
"Keys defensively for the girls were staying focused on their fundamentals and working hard," said Head Coach Dr. Bethany Miller. "They did really well knowing their defensive assignments and trying to get opponents out of their comfort zone." 
 
In the first half, it was a question if either team would allow any looks as both teams piled up the fouls, combining for 15 in just the first 10 minutes. Northwest nearly accrued twice as many fouls, 11, as made field goals, six, in the first half. The physical nature of the contest remained present throughout the game with 48 total free throws.
 
For Biola, the game opened up as they began to get steals and get out in transition. The home team picked up eight steals in the first half and turned those steals into eight of their 29 first half points. The transition looks often led to deep post position that would suck in defenders, opening up room for Biola's shooters to fire away.

A so-far inconsistent shooting team, just 33 percent on the season, Biola drained 10 of its 23 from beyond the arc in this one. Amanda Darouie led all scorers with 12 points, which all came on her four made three-pointers. She was 4-5 from range.
 
Once the offense started, it did not stop for the home team. Both teams were tied with seven minutes remaining in the first half when the Eagles started to inch away, ending the half up by seven. They kept that momentum right through halftime and pulled away quickly in the second half, getting up by as many as 23 points.
 
The Eagles finish their three-game home stand on Tuesday when they host fierce rivals Azusa Pacific at 7:30 p.m.
