AZUSA, Calif. --- It was not an easy day in the pool for Biola, as its women's team lost a duel meet with Azusa Pacific, 151-79. It was a disappointing follow up to last year's incredibly close duel meet, because Biola has seemingly improved in the 2014-15 season and swam very well this morning.
 
"We swam fast today, but APU was strong and it was not super close. We don't have any female divers, and they do, so that was a part of their advantage," said Head Coach Eddie Shepard.
 
The Eagles began the meet with a great performance in the 200-medley relay. Biola earned a convincing win with a team of Megan Nerud, Lisa Tixier, Christine Tixier and Angela Kirschner. The quartet swam a 1:52.14 to outpace the Cougars' best relay team at 1:55.04.
 
Biola has depth and speed in the different strokes, where Azusa Pacific is better and deeper in freestyle.
 
Aside from that big win it was a relatively quiet day. The Eagles' men's team swam, but only competed with one another as APU has no men's side.
 
Edward Campana racked up another national cut by swimming a :22.06 in the 50-freestyle. He beat the second-place swimmer, Bretton Smith, by nearly a minute in their heat. He was the only one to hit a new national qualifying time today.
 
Christine Tixier and Lisa Tixier won every individual event they swam in. Lisa earned a narrow victory in the 100-breaststroke (1:09.75) and also placed first in the 400-individual medley (4:41.44). She was nine seconds faster than second place in the IM.

Angela Kirschner missed a victory in the 50-freestyle by just :00.23. She was one of four Biolans in the top-six in that sprint freestyle race.
 
" We had some strong showings today," said Shepard. "I was particularly impressed with how our team looked today. We have been working on a lot of the smaller things in practice and our swimmers showed that they are making improvements."
 
Biola has another duel meet lined up for next Saturday. The Eagles make the arduous journey right down the street to Whittier College to face the Poets in the pool Nov. 8 at 10:00 a.m.
