Eagles Fly on Final Day of PCSC Championships

Men surge to second, women claim third on electric final day

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. --- The Biola swim and dive teams closed out the fourth and final day of the Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference Championships on Saturday inside the East Los Angeles College Swim Stadium, capping off a strong week of competition with additional championships, podium finishes and notable conference honors.

Overall, the men maintained their strong showing, finishing second overall with 1,723 points, while the women fought back to a third-place team finish with 1,083.5 points. Caleb Pook won the 3-meter diving competition for the men to complete the sweep and earn Male Diver of the Meet from the PCSC. His winning score on the big boad was 421.10. The women's dive group had its one-meter championship on Saturday. Peyton Nelson led the charge for the women with her first conference podium finish. She placed third with a score of 356.90.

The final day was highlighted by another dominant performance from Nathan Griffin, who claimed first place in the men's 200-backstroke. Griffin's win capped a standout championship meet as he earned his sixth overall PCSC individual championship and second of this meet. He won the men's A-final with a 1:46.65. The other individual event win came from another repeat champion for the Eagles as Josh Peace paced the field in the 1,650-freestyle. Peace went 15:40.68 to win the event going away as Biola swept the podium with Samuel Slezak finishing second and Noah Hall third.

Biola also earned multiple top-three finishes on Saturday. In the women's 200-backstroke, Allison Yancey (2:03.06) placed second, while Morgan Carles followed closely behind in third to give the Eagles two podium finishes in the event.

Across the remainder of the championships, Biola recorded several top-24 performances. In the women's 100-freestyle, Phoebe Munholland finished 11th, Rachel Munch placed 16th, and Emilee Elizondo took 20th. The men's 100 freestyle featured Koen Vos finishing eighth, followed by Andrew Hanson (11th), Ronan Watts (18th), and Ben Smith (19th).

The women's 200-breaststroke saw Malia Ciolli earn a fifth-place finish, with Colette Friedley (15th), Addy McCullough (18th), and Lydia Hawthorne (20th) also finishing in the top-24. On the men's side, Tate Fitzgerald led the Eagles with a seventh-place finish, while Jack Snyder (11th), Karter McNutt (13th), and Mark Shalhoub (14th) rounded out the field.

With four days of competition complete, Biola wrapped up the conference meet with team podium finishes, individual conference titles, and numerous top-24 results across the board.
