Griffin Three-peats

More records fall on Day three of the PCSC Championships

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. --- Day three of the Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference Championships held more victorious moments for Biola's swim and dive teams. 

After three days, the women's team falls back to fourth place, just 4.5 points behind APU while the men remain in second, trailing only UC Santa Cruz.

The first final of day three was the 500 Freestyle. On the women's side, Rachel Munch (12th) was the highest finisher for Biola, Emily Sheldon (17th), Angelina Ahmadi-Kashani (20th), Julia Hill (21st) and Paige Fast (22nd) all finished behind Munch, adding huge points to BU's total. 

On the men's side, the Eagles found five top-12 finishes. Josh Peace (2nd) and Samuel Slezak (3rd) both podiumed, while Noah Hall (4th), Jonathan De Dios (9th), and Anthony Ramirez (12th) rounded out a great overall showing.

Allison Yancey headlined the 100 Back, breaking her own record and finishing second with a time of 55.83. Morgan Carles (10th) and Kylie Montiel (20th) also finished in the top-24. 

Nathan Griffin locked in his fifth individual event and third straight title with a time of :49.29. Alejandro Marchesini finished right behind him while Koen Vos (5th) and Ronan Watts (11th) continued to gain ground on UCSC. 

In the 100 backstroke, Malia Ciolli and Lydia Hawthorne finished eighth and 15th, respectively, while Tate Fitzgerald (8th), Jack Snyder (10th), Mark Shalhoub (11th), and Karter McNutt (12th) all secured top-12 finishes.

The 200 Butterfly saw much of the same with four Eagles finishing top-20, including Emilee Elizondo (7th), Chloe Colvard (13th), Addy McCullough (15th), and Lydia Hawthorne (20th). In the men's 200 Fly, Andrew Hanson (6th), Wyatt Miller (8th), and Eli Houseman (9th) locked down top-10 finishes.

The quartet of Griffin, Fitzgerald, Hanson, and Ben Smith broke a school record and locked down third place in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:30.89. The women finished second in 1:44.16.


The final day of competition begins at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow
