Adijat Adams added to her impressive resume as she was named to the 2012-13 NAIA Women's Basketball All-America team as a third-team selection. Players were selected by the NAIA-Women's Basketball Coaches' Association All-America Committee and announced by the national office on Wednesday.
Adams, from Inglewood's Westchester High School, was among the top forwards in the conference this season. She finished the season ranked fifth in the conference in scoring, averaging 16.5 points per game and scoring 528 points on the year. In addition, Adams had the third-highest field goal percentage in the conference and 17th best in the NAIA by hitting 51.4% of her shots.
Adams ranked fourth in the conference in rebounding, averaging 9.3 boards per game. She had 299 total rebounds--the second-most in the conference--and recorded 125 offensive rebounds--24 more than the next closest competitor. Adams also ranked fifth in blocked shots, averaging 1.06 per game with 34 on the season.
Adams was twice named the GSAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, earning the first honor of the season and receiving the award during the final week of the year. She finished with 14 double-doubles on the season including a 34-point, 16-rebound double-double at Arizona Christian during the final week of the season. The 34 points were the most scored by an Eagle player since the 2006-07 season.
For her career, Adams has 1,059 points and 620 rebounds in 97 games played, adding 87 blocks, 67 assists and 74 steals. She has a career shooting percentage of 50.8%
Adams helped the Eagles to a 16-17 record this season and into the GSAC Semifinals after an upset win at No. 11 The Master's College in the quarterfinals.
