PRESCOTT, Ariz. --- Both golf squads packed their bags and headed to the dry heat of Arizona for this weekend's Embry-Riddle Co-Ed Invitational at Talking Rock Golf Club and both groups of golfers ended the two-round tournament in seventh place.
 
The women's team ended in seventh of eight teams after shooting a 1,054 (+190) over the course of the two-day tournament. The Eagles dropped strokes from their total team score each day as the tournament progressed, but it was not enough to help them climb the leaderboard.
 
CSU San Marcos shot a 922 (+58) to win the tournament after taking the lead during the second round. Taylor Coover of the Cougars won the tournament individual title by shooting the low round score two of the three rounds and finishing one stroke ahead of Lauren Kruszewki.
 
The first Eagle to finish was Jackie Mata, who finished in 18^th, just 22 strokes off the pace of the leader at a 244 (+28). Amanda Hobbs (265), Jasmine Rodriguez (270), Beth Williams (278) and Megan Anderson (285) all registered the other counting scores for Biola.
 
The seventh place finish is the second consecutive one for the Eagles, but this time they were able to finish ahead of Texas Lutheran, who scored 15 strokes higher than BU.
 
The men also competed at the challenging desert course, and were unable to put any sort of run together to scale the leaderboard as they battled through the flat course.
 
The Eagles put together a 996 (+132) to finish in last place at the tournament, dropping two spots from their fifth place finish a year ago.
 
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps shot the only team score under par to win the tournament outright by 24 strokes. They shot an 859 (-5) and locked down the top three individual scores to run away with the win. Justin Beck led all golfers with a -7 (209) over the course of the three rounds.
 
Each of BU's five counting scores were registered by five athletes who were all bunched up, finishing within seven spots of one another. William Langworthy led the way for Biola finishing with a three-round score of 243 (+27) tying for 29^th.
 
Kevin Vandekamp (250), Lucas Kinan (251), Max Allen (262) and Micah Mathis (266) finished off the counting scores for Biola.
 
The quality of play in this tournament was better than the tournament the Eagles participated in last week, as BU's athletes were able to turn in some great scores and still finished near the end of the pack. BU golfers shot seven rounds under 85 at this tournament.
 
Both squads take some time off before they next hit the links to finish up the fall season at the CSU San Marcos Fall Classic at Twin Oaks Golf Course Oct. 20-22.
