AZUSA, Calif. --- Biola won three events and qualified four athletes for the NAIA Indoor Championships during competition at the Azusa Pacific University Qualifier on Saturday at APU.

The Eagles earned a pair of first-place finishes in the pole vault as Nicole Falkenstein and Jeff Tran each took top honors. Tran won by cleaning 4.45 meters while Falkenstein cleared 3.33 meters to tie for first on the women's side.

Biola's other first-place finisher was Brooke Arvidson, who won the mile in a time of 5:18.13. She also ran a solid time of 19:11 in the 5,000.

The Eagles also punched four tickets to the indoor national championships on the women's side. Tayllor Lemphers got things going by qualifying in the 400, finishing second in the event with a time of 58.32, well under the "A" standard of 58.70.

Anika Gasner earned a spot with an automatic time of 2:18.04 with her third-place finish in the 800, under the qualifying time of 2:18.60. Carrie Soholt also earned a spot in the 5,000 with a time of 18:15.08, under the automatic qualifying time of 18:22.50. She finished fourth overall in the event.

Chelsea Janzen earned a provisional in the 3,000 with a time of 10:32.78, just under the cut off time of 10:33.00.

Biola had quite a few solid showings overall including a couple of second place finishes in addition to Lemphers. Danny Ledesma took home second place in the 5,000 with a time of 15:46.64 while Alisa Murray finished second in the mile in 5:19.75.

Alicia Hoverson narrowly missed the "B" cut in the 800, finishing in 2:20.21. The provision standard is 2:20.10. The same was true for Neysa Mains in the 5,000. She ran an 18:34.63, just over the "B" cut of 18:32.50.

Other great performances came from Shane Brinson in the 800 (2:01.60) and Andy Edmondson in the 5,000 (16:02).

Biola looks to keep qualifying athletes for the NAIA Championships next week, traveling to Santa Barbara for the Westmont Sunshine Indoor Open on Saturday, Feb. 2.
