LA VERNE, Calif. --- Biola placed fifth behind a solid outing by Joshua Mathis and Kyle Schrader at the Lamkin Grip Southern California Intercollegiate Tournament on Thursday at the Sierra La Verne Golf Course in La Verne.

The Eagles, who completed a two-day, three-round tournament on Monday and Tuesday, returned to the course quickly to battle five other schools from the area. The University of Redlands took home top honors in the one-round shootout with a team score of 295. La Verne placed second at 304, but Biola finished just six strokes back in fifth place with a 310.

Mathis paced Biola again with a five-over 75 with Kyle Schrader right behind with a 76. John Graham carded a 78 with Nick Grady shooting an 81 and Conner Penfold an 82.

Biola now has nearly one month off, returning to the course on March 5-6 for the Point Loma Nazarene/Smee Builders Classic in San Diego.
