LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola closes out 2012 by welcoming three top collegiate teams to the fourth annual Biola University Holiday Classic at Chase Gymnasium on Friday and Saturday, December 28-29. Joining the Eagles are No. 3 Vanguard University, Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) and the University of Victoria (B.C.).

The Eagles enter the tournament with a record of 6-5 on the season and are hosting the tournament four the fourth year. This year's version is a bit scaled down with just four teams competing, down from as many as 13 in the past. Biola has had great success in its tournament over the last three years, posting a record of 6-1 in Classic games.

The tournament begins on Friday with Vanguard hosting Olivet Nazarene at 5:30 p.m., followed by Biola versus Victoria at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Vanguard takes on Victoria at 5:30 with Biola facing Olivet Nazarene at 7:30 p.m.

Vanguard is the highest-ranked team coming in, currently ranked No. 3 in the NAIA Division I coaches poll. The Lions are a perfect 7-0 on the season including a recent dominating victory over then No. 4-ranked Westminster University. Vanguard leads the NAIA in assist-to-rebound ratio and is among the top 15 in nine different categories.

Olivet Nazarene is a run-and-gun team which comes into the tournament ranked No. 10 in the NAIA Division II coaches poll, averaging 102.6 points per game. The Tigers lead Division II in eight different categories including scoring, three-point field goals made per game (15), blocks per game (5.7), and total rebounds per game (55.7). Olivet is 11-1 overall.

Rounding out the classic field is the University of Victoria which enters the field with a 6-4 official record but a 14-5 record in all games played this year. The Vikes are 4-4 over their last eight games, all of which have been Canada West Conference contests. Victoria's Debbie Yeboah leads the teamwby averaging over 18 points per game.
