Joshua Mathis finished third overall while
Ava Lourenco took fourth to lead the Biola women's team to a third place finish while the men placed fifth at the 2012 Embry-Riddle Arizona Co-Ed Invitational on Sunday and Monday at the Talking Rock Golf Course in Prescott.
The Biola women finished third with a three-round total of 972, just six strokes behind second-place Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Lourenco placed fourth overall with a solid three-round score of 18-over-par 234, carding rounds of 78, 76, and 80.
Lauren Marlow wasn't too far behind, finishing eighth with a 23-over 239 (78-82-79).
Jackie Mata was 13th with a 29-over 245. (82-81-82).
On the men's side, the Eagles placed fifth overall with a 901 (303-305-293). The third-round rally was led by Mathis, who carded the best score of the round with a six-under-par 66. That round moved him into third place overall with a one-under-par 215. Kevin Vandekamp finished tied for 15th with a 10-over 226 (71-81-74) while
Nick Grady placed 21st with a 229 (77-75-77).
The teams return to action on Oct. 8-9 at the Firestone Grill Men's and Women's College Championships hosted by Cal Poly at the Monarch Dunes Golf Course in Nopomo, Calif.
