SAN JACINTA, Calif. --- Biola closed out the 2010-11 campaign with a solid eighth-place finish at the 2011 Men's Golf NAIA Regional Qualifier held at the Country Club of Sobonba Springs in San Jacinta on April 18-19.
The Eagles finished the two-day tournament with a three-round total of 921, 57 shots over par, but just one shot behind seventh-place Simpson University. Biola dropped its total in each round, carding a 311 in the first round, a 306 in the second and a 304 in the third.
Kenny Gibo was Biola's top finisher, placing 16th overall with a nine-over par 225 (71-74-80).
John Graham caraded the lowest round of the final round, firing a 68 to finish in 29th with a total of 228 (79-81-68).
Joshua Mathis placed 35th (79-73-78=230) followed by
Conner Penfold in 47th (82-79-78=239) and
Tim Goodfriend in 59th (92-80-83=255).
Point Loma Nazarene held on for the victory with a 15-over-par 879, six strokes ahead of Holy Names University and The Master's College, which tied for second.
