AUBURN, Calif. --- Biola had a solid outing in its first match of the spring season, placing fourth in a tough field of fellow NAIA schools at the William Jessup Invitational at The Ridge Golf Club in Auburn on Monday and Tuesday.
The Eagles finished with a three-round total of 978, 126 strokes over par, just 14 strokes behind host William Jessup for third and 20 behind Simpson University for second. Holy Names took top honors, running away with a 933.
Joshua Mathis was Biola's top performer, finishing eighth overall with a three-day total of 233 (81-77-75), dropping strokes in each successive round.
John Graham placed 15th with a 240 (83-80-77) with
Conner Penfold placing 22nd overall at 247 (81-85-81).
The Eagles take a week off before returning to competition on March 7-8 at the Point Loma Nazarene/Smee Builders Invitational at the Steele Canyon Golf Course in Jamul, Calif.
