Eagles Lose 9-0 to No. 6 Vanguard

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola opened up GSAC play with a tough contest on Tuesday, falling 9-0 to No. 6 Vanguard University at the Biola Tennis Center.

The Eagles fall to 1-2 on the season and to 0-1 in conference play while the Lions improve to 2-1 and to 1-0 in the GSAC.

Despite the lopsided final score, Biola played a lot better against Vanguard than it has in years past. The Eagles put a scare in the Lions especially at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. In the No. 1 match, Weston Leopold fought back from a 6-1 first-set loss and came close in the second, finally falling 7-5. At No. 2, David Mossman was the last one off after dropping a tough tiebreaker in the first set, the losing 6-2 in the second.

The Eagles return to GSAC competition on Saturday, facing off against Concordia University at the Biola Tennis Center. First serve is at 10:00 a.m.
