RIALTO, Calif. --- Pitching coach Justin Hixson tapped into the Inland Empire talent pool in adding Anthony Villegas from Carter High School in Rialto to the 2018 Biola Baseball roster.
 
Villegas had an outstanding high school career for the Lions and earned three all-league honors over the course of his four years. Twice he was named all-league first team as a crafty right-handed pitcher.
 
"Anthony has already brought a great feel with him to the Biola Baseball program. His desire to grow in God, combined with his courage shown already this summer, has encouraged us a coaching staff," said Head Coach Jay Sullenger. "He has pitched so well this summer he was asked to join the Walla Walla Sweets in the WCL, which is a real honor for an incoming freshman to achieve before stepping foot on Eagles Diamond. We are excited to have him join the team and the group of talented pitchers God is assembling."
 
Villegas is a proven winner. He has not only experienced individual success, but also helped his team to a CBL Championship in his time with the Lions. His team was 73-35 during his time as a student at Carter.
 
He will be a key addition as the Eagles look to be competitive in their first season in the PacWest Conference and gun for a potential National Christian College Athletic Association national championship this spring.
 
Villegas enters Biola as a freshman this fall and plans to work towards his degree and then enter the workplace with a career in engineering. Catch him on the Diamond in official games with the Eagles beginning January 2018.
