PHOENIX, Ariz. --- Biola Tennis had to take the long road trip to the desert this weekend for a few hours of tennis at Arizona Christian. The two teams were meeting for the first of two times this season and the Firestorm got 6-3 victories in both the men and women's matches.
 
It was great to see both teams compete well against a pair of ranked Firestorm contingents. The ACU men's team is No. 7 in the NAIA and the women's side is No. 18.
 
Lucas Lee had a strong day for the men. He won his singles match at No. 1 and partnered with Derek James to earn at doubles win as the top pairing. Lee won the singles match decisively in straight sets (6-3; 6-2) and he and James won 8-4 in doubles. They are 2-0 when playing together this year.
 
The other Biola win came by James at the No. 3 singles spot. He handled his opponent 6-1; 6-0 to move to an astounding 7-1 so far in his first collegiate season.
 
Phil Westwood almost made it another 5-4 loss for the Eagles as he and his opponent played three full sets and needed extra games in the third before he ultimately suffered the tough loss.
 
On the women's side Tinisee Kandakai earned a 6-3; 6-1 win at No. 4 singles and the Eagles' took the second and third doubles matches.
 
Kandakai was a part of one of those winning doubles pairings and improved herself to 5-2 in singles and 5-2 in doubles this year.
 
Biola's men fell to 2-7 (1-3 GSAC) and the women dropped to 2-8 (1-3 GSAC).
