RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Biola Women's Golf had to opportunity to compete in the first-ever Ogio-Bulldog Classic at Indian Hills Golf Club this week. Biola carded a 330 and 323 to finish the tournament 77-over and place seventh overall.
 
The wind played a factor in both rounds of the tournament at the sprawling course located in the foothills of downtown Riverside. Biola dealt with it well on day two to drop seven strokes and come close to improving its position on the leaderboard.
 
Alexis Gopfert continued her stretch of hot play by finishing this tournament with the Eagles' lowest scores. She carded an 80 in both rounds to tie for 16^th on the individual leaderboard at 16-over. The freshman from Georgia has shot all four of her rounds at 80 or below this season.
 
Tori Roeske, another of Head Coach Jane Carr's freshmen, led all scorers for Biola when she shot a 79 in Tuesday's second round. That 79 is right where Roeske has been all season long as she's got an average round of 78.92. She added that score to her first round of 82 to finish one stroke behind Gopfert in 18^th place overall.
 
The key to Roeske's strong play was her performance on par-5s. She was third in the tournament field by scoring exactly even-par on the par-5s throughout the week. Biola's other two top scorers, Zhang and Gopfert, used low scores on par-3s to post their strong tournament scores. They tied for third in the tournament field with a cumulative score of 1-over in the shorter holes.
 
It was a fairly consistent week for the Biola contingent as no one shot higher than 87 up and down the Eagles' five scoring players. All scorecards came in between the 79 and 87 mark, with all golfers separated by no more than 10 strokes for the tournament.
 
Jenny Zhang was the Eagles' third-lowest scorer, coming in at 165 (84 | 81). Mary Karnazes followed her with a 167 (84 | 83) and Amanda Hobbs was fifth with a 170 (87 | 83). No Eagle finished lower than 32^nd on the individual leaderboard, but a lack of top scores kept the team near the bottom of the team leaderboard.
 
George Fox University won the tournament with a team total of 611 (+35). The Bruins also had the tournament's individual leader in Sydney Maluenda (+1).
