Two Relays Get Through To Finals

Biola Track & Field opened its Indoor national meet with a strong showing Thursday.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. --- Another NAIA National Championship event got underway on Thursday as the Indoor Track & Field Championships kicked off for Head Coach Sean Henning and his team.

Two individuals and two relays competed on day one, with the highlight of the day being both women's relay teams finishing the semifinals high enough to qualify for finals later this week.

Stephanie Croy and Emily Ransom were the two individuals to compete on Thursday. They ran in the women's 5,000m semifinals, which was the first individual event outside of those competing in the multi-events.

Ransom finished with a 17:55.68 and finished just five-hundredths of a second back from 12th-place, which would have qualified her for finals. Croy was not too far behind, she finished 15th with a 17:59.06.

The two relays were the 4x800m relay and the distance medley relay. Both teams of Eagles qualified for finals. The 4x800m team of Stephanie Chaires, Alisa Murray, Hannah Hunsaker and Lyndee Dawson came in third in the prelims with a 9:21.79. The DMR squad of Hunaskaer, Murray, Dawson and Carissa Kalpakjian placed seventh with a 12:07.21.

Coming up on Friday for the Eagles will be the pole vault, 60m dash 1,000m prelims, 3,000m prelims and 4x800m relay final.
